Rev. Kristi, Christian, Indonesia
Everyday, even every time, we pray to God – who we believe in. Most of the prayer time, we talk. We say thank you, ask something, or just speak out our feelings. We almost never give time to listen to God – who we believe in. So today we will listening. We will listening to God’s word.
We will dance. This dance not based on Christian tradition. But someone taught me this dance at a Christian Women Conference. She said that this is based on Buddhist tradition. It’s called Lotus Dance. Every move of this dance let us to listen to God’s word through our life, because the moves are done based on out heart beats. And we will do these moves silently, because we want to listening, not speaking.
First move, we put our hand together and bring it up. Our head follow the hand move. Look to the up and feel that there is God – who we believe in, who is at the top of all. God is here and it’s the time to us to listen to God.
Second move we bend our body rightward. Let stretch our body. Feel our muscle streched. If we can feel it, it means, we still alive. This life is gift from God. Let us listen God’s word through our life. Let us remember all things we experience at the past. Let us remember that those experiences can’t be done without God’s work.
Third move we bend our body leftward. Now the time for us to listen God’s word through the universe. The earth beneath our legs, the air that we breath, the plants that grow and feed us, the animals, everything. God creates all things and God speak to us through them all. Let listen to them and feel the creation God does.
Fourth move we bend our body frontward. It’s the time to listen to people live here, in Sri Lanka. We have live here for almost a week and still two more weeks. We listen to their story, to their happyness and sadness. We listen to the experience of the disappeared people’s families. We listen to the fear and the hope. Beside that, we listen to our friend that reports their country condition. We can know more about them now. Even the places that we never heard before. God speak to us through them all. God speak to us and we must learn to listen carefully. Then we can learn, that God try to teach us through them. To transform us, to make us aware, to make us know about God’s works that can’t be stop by human.
Fifth move we bend our body backward. It’s the time to also listening to the suffering of people at this present. We heard about tsunami in Mentawai, West Sumatra. We heard about volcano eeruption in Yogyakarta. Both are in Indonesia. Maybe there are some places that only each of us know. Let listen to their suffering. Let listen what God ask us to do in these condition.
We end this dance in silence. Listening to our heart beat. Feel that other’s heart also beat. Feel that life is flowing. And God speak to us through these life.
