It is recognized that many ecumenical and interfaith NGOs have not sufficiently prepared the young generation to become deeply involved in interfaith and justpeace initiatives. For this reason, many ecumenical and interfaith NGOs have found it difficult to find qualified young people to join the 14-week School of Peace held in Bangalore, India.
Therefore, it a preparatory 3-week program has been developed that can encourage and support youth from these organizations to make justpeace interfaith work an integral part of their vision for the future.
The first such program was held in Sri Lanka from October 22 to November 11 of this year. It focused heavily on South Asian youth, but also welcomed youth from other parts of Asia, Palestine and Africa. Through this shorter SOP, these youths receive an introduction to the programs of ICF and the 14-week SOP and are encouraged to prepare themselves for possible participation in these programs in the future.
